Christian Hanson was founded by Christian Gould and Peter Hanson in 2007 as a result of their mutual interest in high-quality made-to-measure clothing. Christian Gould spent many years in the financial sector and Peter Hanson is a designer. Both believe that the self-assurance endowed by a tailored shirt is unsurpassed. They have drawn on the heritage of British tailoring to create Christian Hanson—a bespoke tailoring service for the modern day man.
Christian Gould: “Off-the-peg shirts very rarely give the perfect fit as very few people conform to a ‘standard’ size. Shirts that are mass-produced just don't achieve the same level of quality or attention to detail, even the higher price point brands.
“Bespoke tailoring is inaccessible to most, partly due to the time required to go to fittings, and partly because the old fashioned formality attached to going to the tailors, makes it quite intimidating for those who are not familiar with the role call.

The Christian Hanson shirt pays homage to the traditions of shirt making, but with a subtle irreverence that brings its shirts into the present century. Constructed from the finest quality cottons its shirts are based on the classic shirt template used by some of the most respected tailors on Jermyn Street. The hallmark Christian Hanson contrast lining appears inside the placket, collar, and cuff and on the gusset of every shirt.
The Christian Hanson Shirt
Collars: A squarish, classic angle, neither too pointed nor to shallow that will sit beautifully under a suit, or as an open collar. Every collar has an individually stitched pocket to accommodate brass collar stays.
Yokes: All our shirts have a split yoke to achieve a contoured fit across the shoulders.
Plackets: Plackets employ a more centered stitch formation, giving a generous border and a more balanced appearance. Plackets are lined with the contrast
Cuffs: Choose from a formal double cuff, suitable for showcasing our beautiful sterling silver cufflinks, or the classic x button single cuff. Both cuff types are lined with the customers chosen contrast fabric.
Cloth: Christian Hanson shirts are made from high thread count 100% cottons for a smooth texture, superior breathability and comfort. Classic shirt colours provide a foil for the contrast placket, collar and cuff fabric, which are available in a range of prints and weaves.
Cut: The body of the Christian Hanson shirt is cut for a neat fit, which is flattering both on slimmer and larger body types.
Shirt-tails: Our shirt tails are long enough to comfortably stay in place under trousers, but with no excess fabric to disrupt the line of clothing.
